2022 A Year in Review

Every year we like to do a recap and look back on the year we had at Celebrate Birth. It’s a fun way to reflect on all of the beautiful births we were a part of. Thank you to everyone who played a part in our story in 2022!

The Numbers:

A total of 136 births in 2022!

We attended 61 births – 16 home births and 45 at the birth center – and 12 of those were water births.  24 boys and 37 girls.

Melissa delivered 33 and Michelle delivered 28.  Our student midwife managed 31 of these births.  Well done, Meredith!

For a portion of 2022, we limited our numbers for out-of-hospital deliveries so that we could have time to renovate the birth center. (Stay tuned for a new tour video, or call us to schedule a walk-through!) Therefore, we saw a significant increase in clients who chose Celebrate Birth for prenatal care in preparation for their planned hospital delivery.

This past year, we cared for 75 families who delivered their babies in the hospital.  We are honored to have been a part of all of these pregnancies as well and for the opportunity to support many of them through a portion of their labor.  We continue to be grateful for our working relationship with the local hospitals and the excellent collaborative care they provide for our clients.

We welcomed back 33 clients who had previously delivered siblings with Celebrate Birth and we would like to thank them for trusting us again with their care.  We fondly remember the families who have previously delivered at Labor of Love and whose babies have grown up and chosen Celebrate Birth for their own care.  We delivered 6 of these grandbabies this past year and it has been such a joy to care for the next generation!

Oliver Jude was the first baby of 2022, born at the hospital on January 3 at weighing 7#8oz ounces. Our first home birth baby was John William, born January 15 weighing 7#14oz, and our first birth center baby was Leviathan Ramael born January 16 weighing 8#3oz.

September was our busiest month with a total of 16 babies born, 7 of those births attended by our midwives out of the hospital (1 home birth, 6 at our birth center).

9 times this past year we delivered 2 babies within 24 hours of each other, and 6 of those times were on the same calendar day.  Our closest deliveries happened on October 22nd when we welcomed 2 babies at the birth center within just 4 minutes of each other!  (Jensen Rye at 2:12am weighing 7#10oz and Summer Faith at 2:16am weighing 8#4oz)

We had 4 babies born weighing 10 pounds or more this year.  Our largest baby was Keira Everly, born at home on September 3 at 2:11pm weighing 11#8oz.  Wow!

This year came to a sweet conclusion with two New Years Eve babies – Baby Henry was born at the hospital at 8:40am weighing 5#15oz, and Creed Lincoln was born at the birth center at 2:21pm weighing 8#4oz.

We saw a total of 179 new clients in 2022 and we look forward to meeting many of those babies in 2023!
