2020 A Year in Review
Every year we like to do a recap and look back on the year we had at Celebrate Birth. It’s a fun way to reflect on all of the beautiful births we were a part of. Thank you to everyone who played a part in our story in 2020!
The Numbers:
A total of 119 births in 2020!
We attended 70 births – 15 home births and 55 at the birth center – and 14 of those were water births. 33 girls and 37 boys.
Melissa: 31
Michelle: 39
We cared for an additional 49 women who delivered their babies in the hospital. We are honored to have been a part of all of these pregnancies as well and for the opportunity to support many of them through a portion of their labor.
We had 31 clients who had previously welcomed siblings with Celebrate Birth! We would like to thank them for trusting us again with their care.
Jonathan Scott was the first baby of 2020, born at the birth center on January 11th at 1:11 am weighing 7#4oz.
11 times this past year we had 2 babies born within 24 hours of each other, and 7 of those times were on the same calendar day. The closest 2 births were on February 18th when Sarai Priscilla (12:34 pm, 8#3oz) and Theodore Constantine (2:35 pm, 5#15oz) arrived 2 hours and 1 minute apart at our birth center – and during a busy clinic day, no less!
October was our busiest month with a total of 17 babies born, 11 of those births attended by our midwives out of the hospital (3 home births, 8 at our birth center).
We had 7 babies born weighing 10 pounds or more this year! Our largest baby was Camila Rosalie, born on November 1st at 10#9oz.
Our smallest baby was also our last baby of the year and nearly 5 pounds lighter! Jameson Lee, born on December 29th at 3:16 pm, weighed 5#11oz.
We also welcomed two staff babies this year. Melinda welcomed Sebastian Ismael (6#15oz) on October 14th and Stephanie delivered Margaret Paige (7#6oz) on November 28th. (One more staff baby will be here soon – Devon’s little one is due to arrive in January 2021!)
We saw a total of 142 new clients in 2020 and we look forward to meeting many of those babies in 2021!
